Watch Me Entertain Myself!

Sacha Guitry once said, "You can pretend to be serious, but you can't pretend to be witty." Oh yes, I'm the great pretender.

Gay-nito Kami Noon Fabcast, Part 1

A.k.a. “Malate, Sa Kuko Ng Mga Beki.”

There has been talk online of the death of Malate, the premiere pink district of Manila. Is it really dead? And what does that mean to Manila’s pink community?

But before that, the more mature Fabcasters took a trip down memory lane and recounted the places (and reasons) why Malate was the ground-zero of Gay Manila. Why was it the Home Of The Bekis even before the term beki was invented? And where did the fabulous hang out?

Go back in time with us. Click on the player below and enjoy.

The topic also influenced the music choices for this Fabcast.

I miss the old Malate: Joy (where I brought my mom and where she "outed" accidentally "outted" her kumare's son with whom she bumped by the bar kissing another guy); Garlic Rose (where some guy dating his gf at the table near mine followed me to the washroom, gave me a french kiss and asked for my number); Piggy's (where I tripped and landed on somebody's naked torso at the 2nd floor and recognized his voice in the dark as that of my high school biology teacher, and in the light of the first floor bar, I saw him walking the narrow staircase from above with a bruise on his shoulder); the wild foam parties at the corner of Nakpil and Orosa (where I went home TWICE on separate occasions without my pants after i lost it in the foam); Blue Cafe (where I always get a free joint, where I got a blowjob and a handjob from some Brazilian guy, back when nang di pa uso ang Brazilian models); and the Verve Room (where I danced argentina tango with Shola - the tranny with the big boobs).

Those were the days - the wild days of Malate.
