Watch Me Entertain Myself!

Sacha Guitry once said, "You can pretend to be serious, but you can't pretend to be witty." Oh yes, I'm the great pretender.

Wednesday Morning Radio

Notice how love and music sort of go together? Worse, notice how when one is either falling head-over-heels into love or falling out of it fast, almost all the songs on the radio conspire to remind you of what you’re going through?

Just this morning while switching stations I heard in immediate succession: [1] The Beatles with “We Can Work It Out”; [2] Boyzone’s remake of Tracy Chapman’s “Baby Can I Hold You”; and [3] Kylie Minogue’s booty-driving “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”. (For those who are familiar with early morning Metro Manila FM radio, you can figure out my station-switching pattern: from RJ100 to RX93.1 to 99.5FM.)

“We can work it out, we can work it out.”

“Words don’t come easily
Like I love you, I love you.
But you can say, baby…
Baby can I hold you tonight?
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time, you’d be mine.”

“I just can’t get you out of my head.
Boy, your lovin’ is all I think about.
I just can’t get you out of my head.
Boy, it’s more than I dare to think about.
Every night, every day,
Just to be there in your arms—
Won’t you stay?
Won’t you then stay forever
And ever and ever and ever….”

* * * * *

Okay. All together now, one, two, three: Can you all say, “Mush!”?

Is Someone trying to tell me something? All I hear is radio gaga, radio goo-goo, radio blah-blah….

emosyonal ka lang, most songs are love songs, be it of loss or rejecyion or finding THE ONE. so malamang talaga you're bound to hear something that you will take as something that pertains to you.

having said that, weno naman ngayon kung emosyonal ka? go lang nang go! sabi nga sa isang proverb: in furness, mas keribelles to the highest level na shumibok-hibok, ang pusez at ma-luz valdez compared to lugaw at najuhay and never-wonderland ma-noselift kung pano sumey ng "sabel diz must be love!"

(it is better to have loved and lost that to live and never have loved at all)

enjoy the ride muna.

POWERBOTTOM: Maybe I'll enjoy the ride even more if I switch off the car radio and just play my iPod... preferably classical music. Hehehe.

ano ber? the most enjoyable part of any love story or tragedy is wallowing! besides, this is the only time you get the "mush" pass to which you are entitled to embarass your friends by being so overly mushy. without the mush pass, youre just someone with REALLY bad taste.

can you imagine goin through a breakup and not listeneing to "Tell Me" or "Bluer than Blue?" or "all by myself" or "Aegis' Halik?" it's just not a complete breakup withut these songs!

how can you say you're infatuated or in love, and not listen to Air Supply?!? Required listening yan! from "all out of love" to "come what may" to "making love out of nothing at all".

If only to see how your friends will react while singing loudly an Air supply song in Greenbelt 3 while alternatingly telling them how much you miss him and and how much you just wanna cuddle and snuggle with him. I thik, that alone is worth having the mush card hehehehehehe

POWERBOTTOM: That's it. Remind me to stay clear from you when you're in love or in the midst of a break-up, hahaha.

Meanwhile, my ringtone remains the "Stop-the-world!" screech of "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. Sige nga, kaya ba yan ng Aegis?!

ok lang yan, joel. understandable naman yan, i think. maloka ka kung very early in the morning, in-on mo ang radyo, at natyempuhan mong tinutugtog ang lupang hinirang tsaka ka nag-breakdown!

pag nangyari yun, isa ka nang hibang!

I recieved this email from my co-worker months ago. It says:

"MANTRA FOR THE DAY: LOVE IS DEAD, LOVE IS DEATH wag manalig sa pag-ibig"

RYE: Mas hibang ako pag narinig ko ang "Butse Kik" ni Yoyoy Villame at nag-breakdown ako. Diretsong mental na ako pag nangyari yun.

ANONYMOUS: OA co-worker mo, ha. Rejected? :-)

joel....instead of listening to these stations playing mush, the solution is listen to 90.7 "Una mag magdasal ka para mabuhay ka, pangalawa, mag toothbrush ka para mabuhay ang iba....trulalu at walang halong eklavu."

how are you? =)

Must be the weather, Joel. The cool morning is good enough excuse to be in love (or wish to be). :-) Btw, your exchange with Powerbottom is itself a post. Nahilo ako katatawa. :-)

RANDY: I agree that Nicole Yala and Chris Chuper are hilarious. But once the laughter stops, you will hear Eric Clapton's "You Look Wonderful Tonight" and Elton John's "Skyline Pigeon" ad nauseam. It's sooo NOT a good idea.

ARYO: Powerbottom and I take a bow. Hehehe.

Joel,

hahahaha on skyline pigeon. I know what you mean...

Unsolicited advice... why not you and powerbottom? you seem to "like" each other...=)

Seriously, I think you are a fairly attractive dude... (physically, intellectually, financially ?!).. give the other aspect of yourself - the "emotionally part" reach its full potential too. Fall in love! hehehehe.

(sorry, kung soundling pa-close!)

Reminds me of when I drove down the coast on the night of my birthday when hubby and I had a bit of a tif. Nelly Furtado's song was on the radio playing:

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?

Obviously, it did not come to an end that night but I thought it was going to and I wallowing in self pity. Such a drama queen I am.

Naku! It seems everyone is in on that emotional rollercoaster (myself included). I hope the ride stops soon for all of us (or for our blogs sake).
