Watch Me Entertain Myself!

Sacha Guitry once said, "You can pretend to be serious, but you can't pretend to be witty." Oh yes, I'm the great pretender.

The Cagbalite Fabcast, Parts 1 & 2

The island off Mauban, Quezon Province is what Boracay and Puerto Galera were before they became Boracay and Puerto Galera. Rustic is often used to describe it, but the word becomes woefully inadequate when you get there. Those used to creature comforts will at first be taken aback—What?! No electricity during the day? No doors in our cottages? But let the island’s charm envelope you, and your whole being relaxes.

RELAXED. That can clearly be heard in our voices in this latest Fabcast, recorded on Good Friday, 2009. The reason why it took me this long to produce this is because I had to trim all the “ahs”, “uhms” and pauses in between everyone’s sentences. (The most relaxed? Gibbs! He practically placed a pause in between words at the start.)

We left Quezon Avenue in Quezon City and arrived in Quezon Street in Quezon Province.

This restaurant has two specialties.

The peaceful shore…

…and the rest-in-peaceful cemetery right beside the shore!

Low tide means high activity.

I know this is geeky but I'm trying to know the font used in the street signage. Bakit hindi Helvetica? Grrrr.

hmph! naunahan na kami sa guesting! :-(si jay, nakakatuwa magtanong. intelihente ang language pero tunog-bata. parang batang nanghihingi ng wisdom sa mga lola nyang nagngangalang Fabcasters.

re: sacrifice in the name of love--- kaya nga diba, we don't get in a relationshp because it will make us whole, but because we are whole enough that we are able to share. one only loses a part of himself when he doesn't know who he reaaly is, what he wants, what he is willing to give, and what he wants to preserve.

i agree with most of your responses to the anxieties question. happiness doesn't is not a question of circumstances, but how one, gay or not, is able to view them. what one refers to as lonesomeness is single-blessedness to another.

"My happiness doesn't depend on others. I make my own person" ganyan dapat! wagi ka jan, AJ! at nakisama ako sa standing ovation para sa yo jan.

joel: ang suplado nung "Do you make friends in the bathhouse?" "Nooo!" LOL.

"common anxieties ...not inevitable, not that bad, not necessarily for gay men." truth! masyado lang tayong self-flagellating in general. drama queens, indeed!

shet!!! beer on the beach, under the stars on a good friday with friends. panalo!

e kumusta naman, joel, yung pinu-push mo na malibugan si gibbs sa resort boys? pasaway! LOL.

ako, MGG, pwedeng mag-substitute sa counselling sa kanila when u're busy. basta bring a bottle of wine.

gibbs: bodily fluids to bodily fluids... hindi pwede! play safe! always!

enjoyed the episode immensely, Fabcasters! ang saya nyo.. pero i'm sure mas masaya ang episode pag kami ang nag-guest! (ipilit?!?!?!)

@HIS ROYAL RYENESS: Wow, nag-enjoy ka nga sa Fabcast. With matching point-by-point reaction pa. =)

Hakshuwally, I remember now: I did make "friends" with two guys in the bathhouse. We're like "bathhouse friends", meaning we're friends only inside. Outside we never bothered to keep in touch.

as a quezonian, I'm proud to say that our province is a haven of undiscovered beaches, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that they are far better than Bora. Mauban is an unexplored frontier, and I hope it will not turn into a strip of commercial resorts (now happening to Caramoan). There are others in Pagbilao, (my fave is kwebang lampas, visit

By the way, I'm such a big fan of your blog. I've just started my own blog, and which I hope can be linked to yours.

Carpe Diem!

@CANUTO: Thank you for the tip about Pagbilao and Kuwebang Lampas! If we decide to go there, we might ask you to tour-guide us. =)

Linked you already. =)
